A well written mystery entwined in two very different cultural settings. The female protagonist takes a fascinating journey from corporate life in Minnesota to the deepest jungles of South America.

Why in all the world would you publish a review on a book and even mention the ending????? Very very irritating

Most of the book was wonderful, but the ending of course ruined it.

Consistently strong Ann Patchett story telling. I bought this book after reading the brilliant Dutch House and this one was just as satisfying though the characters and setting couldn’t have been more different.

Hands down this book is in my top ! The writing, oh the story telling this is the best. As you can see I’m not writer ! But I love to read , this was good you try to slow down ,your reading so you can make it last.

This is a magnificent novel, flawlessly written, a suspenseful smart story. I would give it a 10 even if five stars means excellent.

A bit surreal. Beyond the real and beyond the surface. A protagonist traveling down a rabbit hole to a wonderland. Somehow a melancholy happy ending.

State of wonder is an amazing read and I highly recommend this work of modern prose.

One of the best and original I have ever read, and this is over 30 years of reading novels.
